Position Title: Contract Food & Beverage Director – High School Concessions
Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Reports To: Big Walnut Athletic Boosters
Location: High School Athletic Facilities
Position Summary
The Contract Food & Beverage Director is responsible for the overall management, operation, and profitability of the high school's concession program. This position oversees all food and beverage operations during athletic events and other school-sponsored activities, ensuring excellent customer service, food safety compliance, efficient inventory management, and financial accountability. The director will recruit, train, and supervise concession staff and volunteers while maximizing revenue to support school athletic and extracurricular programs.

Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and oversee all concession operations for athletic events and special events.
- Develop schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels for all concession stands.
- Coordinate setup, operation, and cleanup of concession facilities.
- Ensure all concession stands operate efficiently and provide excellent customer service.
Food & Beverage Management
- Develop and maintain concession menus based on customer demand and profitability.
- Purchase food, beverages, and supplies from approved vendors.
- Monitor inventory levels and minimize waste through effective inventory control.
- Ensure product quality, freshness, and proper storage.
Financial Management
- Prepare operating budgets and monitor expenses.
- Manage cash handling procedures and reconciliation after each event.
- Maintain accurate financial records, including sales reports, inventory records, and invoices.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve operational efficiency.
- Submit financial reports as required by the school district.
Staffing & Training
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise concession employees and/or coordinate volunteer staffing.
- Provide ongoing training in customer service, food safety, and cash handling procedures.
- Ensure adequate staffing for all scheduled events.
- Foster a positive and professional work environment.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
- Maintain required food service certifications and permits.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Ensure safe operation of kitchen equipment and concession facilities.
Vendor & Community Relations
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate competitive pricing when appropriate.
- Coordinate with school administration, athletic department staff, booster organizations, and event coordinators.
Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing food and beverage operations, concessions, catering, or restaurant services.
- Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.
- Knowledge of inventory management and cash handling procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- Valid food safety certification (or ability to obtain prior to contract start).
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience managing concessions for schools, sports venues, or community events.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting.
- Experience working with volunteers and booster organizations.

Contract Terms:
- Independent Contractor (1099)
- Compensation: Negotiable
- Contract duration: Typically one school year with renewal options
- Contractor is responsible for maintaining appropriate insurance coverage if required by the school district.
