The Alumni Director is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with former student‑athletes, coaches, and supporters of the athletic program. This role focuses on building an engaged alumni network that supports the mission of the Athletic Boosters through mentorship, fundraising, and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities: Alumni Engagement & Relationship Building
* Develop and maintain a database of alumni (student‑athletes, coaches, supporters)
* Serve as the primary point of contact for alumni relations
* Build ongoing relationships through regular outreach and engagement
Communication & Outreach
* Create and distribute alumni communications, including:
* Newsletters, emails, and social media updates
* Program achievements, athlete highlights, and event announcements
* Keep alumni informed and connected to current athletic programs
Events & Programs
* Plan and coordinate alumni‑focused events such as:
* Alumni games or recognition nights
* Hall of Fame or awards events
* Networking and social gatherings
* Collaborate with coaches and school staff to integrate alumni into athletic events
* Facilitate opportunities for alumni to:
* Mentor current student‑athletes
* Speak at events, practices, or team meetings
* Support career development initiatives
* Strengthen the connection between past and current athletes
Fundraising Support
* Partner with the Fundraising Chair to:
* Develop **alumni giving programs and campaigns**
* Encourage donations and sponsorships from alumni
* Promote annual giving, capital campaigns, or special initiatives
* Help track alumni participation and contributions
Qualifications
* Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
* Experience in event planning, networking, or community engagement (preferred)
* Basic understanding of fundraising principles
* Organizational and data management skills
* Familiarity with the school or athletic program (preferred)
* Passion for athletics and community involvement
Time Commitment
* Term 1–2 year volunteer leadership position, as defined by the organization’s bylaws
* Monthly engagement & communications: 6–12 hours
* Event planning & execution: 10–25 hours per event
